On Saturday, November 23, Bas Heijne will interview Amitav Ghosh in Rode Hoed. A conversation between two friends about his childhood in Kolkata, how he became a writer, the role of literature in the climate crisis and their mutual admiration for Louis Couperus.
With a guest performance by theatre company Bureau Vergezicht, who, taking inspiration from Ghosh’s work, create productions in which they attempt to imagine the unthinkable – the climate crisis.

Echoes from the past, visions of the future

Amitav Ghosh will talk with Margot Dijkgraaf at the Noorderkerk in Hoorn. The conversation will take place in Hoorn, the birthplace of VOC-general Jan Pieterszoon Coen, who committed genocide against the population of the Banda Islands in order to gain monopoly on the lucrative nutmeg production.
After the conversation, visitors will have the opportunity to purchase his books and have them signed.
