Concert – Spot on John Adams
The New Ensemble, conducted by Ed Spanjaard, presents a programme with new and older work by like-minded composers and, of course, by John Adams himself. In addition, the young Dutch composer Rick van Veldhuizen, has composed a short tribute to John Adams. Soloists are Anna voor de Wind, clarinet and Paolo Gorini, piano.

Andrea van Pol interviews John Adams about his sources of inspiration, musical memories and the influence of the Californian landscape on his music. John Adams also talks to students and teachers about the influence of jazz and pop culture on his work. With performances by ensembles of the Conservatorium van Amsterdam.

John Adams in film – Io Sono l’Amore
In the Italian feature film ‘Io Sono l’Amore’ (2009, 120 minutes, Dutch subtitles) the soundtrack with music by John Adams is an integral part of the film – an Italian family drama starring Tilda Swinton. Before the screening, film music specialist Michel Schöpping will discuss how music and film reinforce each other and what role John Adams’ music plays in this.
