Report by the selection committee
This study offers an in-depth analysis of texts, revisions, reception and adaptations of literary classics for children. These are arranged in four contexts through the ages: pedagogical, literary, ideological and cultural-historical. In spite of this complex framework the author has built a clear line of reasoning. The study is important because it shows that the adaptations of literary classics for children led to a self-evident, influential canon formation.
